About the Artist
Jessica Kurnas was born on March 6th of 1991 to Wendy/Terry Kurnas in Newport News, Virginia. She currently lives in Fairplay, Colorado with her husband, two shiba's and cat. She has had an interest in art since a very young age. Her admiration of the arts grew from early morning 90's cartoons, anime and various video games such as ‘The Legend of Zelda’ and ‘Final Fantasy’. Jessica's success in the art field was indicative at a very young age with the winning of various art 'contests' at the schools she attended. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014, majoring in 'Communication Arts'.
Post graduation, Jessica took both her love of animals and fantasy worlds, and focused on character/creature design. Occasionally, she would receive a commission or two and over time the number of requests grew. Jessica is now a full-time artist. Since going full time, she has had many opportunities including, but not limited to, selling her art in a number of art galleries, creating murals for our own mountain communities, and painting for local theaters. Jess is currently Vice President of Park County Creative Alliance, a creative non-profit. She is grateful for the opportunity to work as an artist and to have the ability to teach others how they too can follow their passions and make a living on the creative side.
